SOLVER for UMTS

SOLVER is a high-performance load and stress test tool for mobile telecommunication networks. It provides the ability to simulate an UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access Network (UTRAN) within a 3G network with a large number of connected mobile subscribers providing load and stress to the Core Network.

SOLVER makes it possible to generate and terminate calls and SMSs, perform voice quality measurements via PESQ, configure the simulated access network, test network indicators and provide real-time statistics on traffic progress. Various traffic patterns are easily created to run simultaneously or in sequence.

Main features

  • Originate and terminate calls with Control Plane signaling and User Plane (payload).
  • Provides fine-grain control over call set-up rates and parameters.
  • Emulates Radio Access Networks – Core Network communication procedures.
  • Displays call activity and completion statistics such as set-ups, releases and active calls on-line.
  • Generates high traffic load towards the Core Network.
  • Supports set-up and release of GTP tunnels over the Packet Switched Core Network.
  • Displays Radio Access Network statistics.

SOLVER UMTS Interfaces

Add-on applications

  • Handover
SOLVER can simulate 3G to 3G  multiple handover scenarios
  • MSC in Pool (MiP)
The MiP functionality (or Intra domain Connection of RAN Nodes to Multiple CN Nodes, 3GPP 23.236) is primarily used for load balancing over MSCs or load redistribution, for example remove load from one MSC during maintenance.
  • PESQ
(according to the ITU-T specification P.862) is based on modeling of the human perception
  • SMS
With SOLVER, it is possible to do SMS generation and termination with user definable message content
  • TrFO
SOLVER provides load testing of TrFO over the IuCS interface
