SOLVER supports TFO

Polystar T&M is happy to announce the release of TFO load testing functionality for the load generator Solver. The development has been in close cooperation with a major Telecom Vendor in the mobile core market.

Mikael Grill, Polystar CEO says:
“It is with great pleasure that we once again have proven  Polystar T&M’s flexibility and fast time-to-market for customer requests. This is one of several customer driven projects that Polystar T&M have fulfilled the last couple of years.”
Mikael Grill continues, “It is also very promising that we have been able to deliver new functionality to Solver, within a very aggressive time frame. We are also the only test vendor that has this functionality using an SDH interface.”

With this release, Solver will introduce the unique capability to provide load testing of TFO over the A-interface on channelized SDH STM-1 interfaces. In order to support TFO functionality a completely new DSP-based hardware has been implemented to accommodate the increased performance requirements. The Solver TFO implementation is compliant to 3GPP TS 28.062-610 (in relevant parts). An upgrade program will be available for any customer wishing to upgrade their current SDH solutions with TFO.

About TFO: The abbreviation TFO stands for “Tandem Free Operation”. The objective of TFO is to minimize the intermediate stages of encoding and decoding in the networks in a mobile-to-mobile call. The main advantage of TFO is to provide bandwidth savings and improve speech quality. In a TFO enabled network the speech codec’s can be changed during the call for example at a handover or due to bad speech quality. In scenarios where the handsets have different coding capabilities an intermediate transcoder can be used as a “translator” between different coding rates.
