SOLVER for UMTS

The Solver for UMTS test tool for communication networks provides the ability to simulate a UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access Network (UTRAN) within a 3G network with a large number of connected mobile subscribers providing load and stress to the Core Network.

Solver makes it possible to generate and terminate calls and SMSs, perform speech quality measurements via PESQ, configure the simulated access network, test network indicators, and provide real-time statistics on traffic progress. Various traffic patterns are easily created to run simultaneously or in sequence.

UMTS Iu-PS Interface

The Solver UMTS Iu-PS generator provides load and stress to the Packet Switched Core Network using ATM STM-1 interfaces or Ethernet for IP to connect to the SUT (System Under Test).

The Solver Iu-PS generator has the capability to load and stress the SUT with both control plane signalling, establishment and release of GTP tunnels, and IP application payload and is avalible as Iu-PS over ATM and Iu-PS over IP.

The Solver interface solution has a large on-board memory capacity and powerful processing cabability. The on-board memory is for the storage of IP application payload data that can be used in the different scenarios that are set up within Solver.

The Solver UMTS Iu-CS generator provides load and stress to the Circuit Switched Core Network using an ATM STM-1/OC3 interface for ATM or Ethernet for IP to connect to the SUT, (System Under Test).

Solver can load and stress the SUT with both control plane signalling, AMR coded voice traffic and 64 kbps data.

Handover

Solver can simulate single or multiple handovers between 2G-2G, 2G-3G, and 3G-3G.

I-HSPA

Solver I-HSPA is an optional feature available for the Solver Iu-CS over IP interface.

MSC in Pool (MiP)

Solver can distribute traffic load. The MiP functionality is primarily used for load balancing over MSCs or load redistribution, for example removing load from one MSC during maintenance.

PESQ

Verify speech quality by using PESQ measurements on several simultaneous calls, while at the same time generating heavy background traffic.

SMS

With Solver, it is possible to perform SMS generation and termination with user-definable message content.

TrFO

Solver provides load testing of TrFO over the Iu-CS interface.
