TFO

Solver has introduced a unique capability to provide load testing of TFO over the A-interface on channelized SDH STM-1 interfaces. When TFO is used in a GSM network the MSC negotiates the best available set of codec schemes with BSC:s and other network elements in the chosen path. There can also be re-negotiations of speech codecs during the call.

In the Solver GUI, you can specify what transcoding schemes you will make available to the network that is to be tested. Solver also has the possibility to change speech codec during the call when it is requested by the SUT.

In order to support TFO functionality, a completely new DSP-based hardware has been implemented to accommodate the increased performance requirements.

The Solver TFO implementation is compliant with 3GPP TS 28.062-610 (in relevant parts). An upgrade program is available for any customer wishing to upgrade their current SDH solutions with TFO.

Key advantages of Tandem Free Operation

  • Improvement in speech quality by avoiding multiple transcoding in the network.
  • Savings on the inter-PLMN transmission links, which are carrying compressed speech compatible with a 32 kbit/s or 16 kbit/s or 8 kbit/s submultiplexing scheme, including packet switched transmission.
  • Processing power savings in the network equipment since the transcoding functions in the Transcoder Units are bypassed.
  • Reduction in the end-to-end transmission delay and jitter.
