Nokia Siemens Networks and Polystar expand successful cooperation

The state-of-the-art load and feature test tool Solver to be included in Nokia Siemens Network's product portfolio.

Solver release 4.9 and 5.0

Our next Solver releases, scheduled for 28 January 2011, will offer a number of enhancements. For example, a new and even more improved GUI for the LTE and packet switched interfaces, I-HSPA for the Iu-CS o IP interface, and a new SIP stack for higher CAPS.

Solver PS Suite - Packet Based Traffic Load Generator in one single tool!

The demand for test solutions for load and feature testing of wireless packet switched (PS) networks has grown rapidly the past few years. To meet these needs, Polystar has developed a bundled tool supporting most PS interfaces in one single solution.

Our next Solver releases, scheduled for 28 January 2011, will offer a number of enhancements. For example, a new and even more improved GUI for the LTE and packet switched interfaces, I-HSPA for the Iu-CS o IP interface, and a new SIP stack for higher CAPS.

Solver’s improved GUI

Polystar’s test and measurement tool Solver is highly appreciated by customers for its easy-to-use GUI. Advanced testing scenarios can be created immediately, and are easily changed with each test cycle. Now we are introducing further GUI improvements for the LTE and packet switched interfaces, which will make it even easier and faster to prepare and run test scenarios.

This is achievable thanks to the addition of:

• Content presented in a “tree structure” – which makes it easier to keep track of and structure simulations via specific folders
• Drag & Drop – which enhances the usability and makes configuration work quicker
• Software Wizard – which assists the user in the creation of a new simulation through well-defined steps
• Enhanced error handling – with instant validation of errors or missing information

I-HSPA

Polystar can now offer a new add-on application to the Solver IuCS o IP interface – namely I-HSPA. Solver I-HSPA is an additional feature of Iu-CS o IP, making it possible to simulate iNodeBs and make Packet Switched to Circuit Switched call redirection.
No hardware upgrade is needed to get access to this feature, it only requires the addition of a new licence to enable all the I-HSPA functionality.

Users can run the Solver I-HSPA with 250 iNodeBs which share the same physical connection toward the MSC. It is possible to select a toggle mode in Solver’s Configuration GUI that distributes the traffic evenly over all iNBs.
Solver I-HSPA follows the “HSPA Evolution”, a standard for 3G mobile telephony, based on 3GPP release 7 (2007).

SIP

For the Solver SIP interface we are introducing a new SIP stack for higher CAPS (Call Attempts per Second).
This is a new standard feature and expands the number of CAPS to 250 CAPS in total (divided by two if both the A and B side of a call is used).
